FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Shannon L. Shaw PRESS RELEASEClerk Crawford Warns of Scam Targeting Potential Jurors Yulee, FL – April 13, 2011 – Nassau County Clerk and Comptroller John A. Crawford wants citizens who may be needed for jury service to know that they will never receive an unsolicited call from the Clerk’s Office about jury duty, nor will anyone ask for a juror’s Social Security Number. Scams reported in south Florida counties involve fraudulent callers attempting to collect fines for missing jury duty and callers requesting personal information after falsely claiming that an arrest warrant had been issued for missing jury duty. “While these scams have not reached Nassau County, if you ever experience this type of call, hang up and call my office immediately,” said Clerk Crawford. “Do not give your personal information to anyone you don’t know.” Prospective jurors receive a summons by mail that contains information that citizens have already provided to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
